The HUE+ is molex-powered and connects via USB 2.0 to the motherboard. In this illustration, the 2nd channel connects to the NZXT LED Strips. In my next comments there will be very poor attempts of mine to create Schematics for different RGB solutions. I took the initiative to start quick guides on how to setup a system per brand. Brands all have their little ecosystem: it can be confusing and sometimes even overwhelming. There is no unified way of syncing RGB lighting between brands.
